Fashion Friday: Where to Shop for a Cause

Arguably, the best part of shopping for new clothes is getting the clothes and being able to wear them. But sometimes, there's another plus to it. Sometimes, buying clothes helps a charity or cause by raising awareness or maybe the purchase gives a donation to a non-profit. Most of the time when I'm shopping, I'm not shopping for a cause, but there are instances where I am. So here are some great places where you can buy clothes and more to shop for a cause.

Ivory Ella

If you're an avid social media user, you may have seen these shirts pop up on your Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter feed. Elephants seem to be pretty popular lately in fashion and with these shirts, so has saving them!

Ivory Ella sells (mainly) shirts, jewelry, and more to raise money for savetheelephants.org. The shirts are super cute and feature a large print of the logo on the back. Some have pockets in the front with the logo printed on it while others are just plain on the front. There are a variety of colors, styles, and patterns, so there's something for almost everyone. And while it seems to be more popular with girls, they do have men's styles as well!

Although Ivory Ella mainly raises money to save elephants, they recently released a breast cancer awareness shirt in order to raise some money for that cause.

Lokai

This company is also popular on social media. Lokai sells bracelets with a bead filled with mud from the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, and a bead filled with water from Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. The use of these elements in the beads symbolizes the highs and lows in everyone's lives and to try to stay balanced in life.

There are classic bracelets as well as limited edition ones. For every bracelet sold, a portion of the profits is donated to a charity. The limited edition ones are often connected to a certain cause/charity. This month is breast cancer awareness month, so Lokai is selling pink bracelets to raise money for Susan G. Komen.

Sheckler Foundation

It is not uncommon for professional athletes to start charities and non-profits to raise money for a cause they care about. My favorite action sports athlete, Ryan Sheckler, is one of those athletes. His non-profit organization, the Sheckler Foundation, raises money for children with illnesses and injured action sports athletes.

The Sheckler Foundation was founded in 2008 and originally didn't sell t-shirts to raise money. But over time, t-shirts from Ryan's old clothing line RS by Sheckler were added to the shop. Now, there are about 20 products, including several t-shirts, for sale. The money used to buy any products in the shop counts as a donation to the Sheckler Foundation.

To Write Love on Her Arms

Previous blog posts have mentioned this non-profit organization, but if you have yet to read those or have not heard of TWLOHA, this organization helps raise awareness and helps provide treatment for issues such as depression, suicide, addiction, and self-injury. TWLOHA wants to end the stigma that mental health issues should not be talked about.

It began with selling some t-shirts to help a friend pay her recovery treatment center costs. Now, TWLOHA still mainly sells t-shirts, but other products are available, such as stickers, hats, prints, books and rubber bracelets. A variety of products and styles of clothing are available, both for men and women.

All of the titles of the organizations/companies are clickable, so please click the heading to shop at the respective store.

What places do you like to shop at that donates money for a good cause?
