Amanda Wijangco
Hi. My name is Amanda Wijangco, and I'm basically the Filipino Lara Jean. (If you have no idea what that means, please watch To All the Boys I've Loved Before on Netflix or pick up the book at the library or wherever you buy books.) But in all seriousness, I have honestly never related to a fictional character more than I have with Lara Jean. I even wrote a blog post about it. There's no doubt that I'm introverted. I'm a hopeless romantic, introverted millennial who loves baking, reading, clothes, and being creative. And as an ISFJ, it totally makes sense.
My blog is a reflection of who I am and what I love. If you haven't figured it out by now, my favorite color is pink. It always has been. I wear it every day. It's an easy way to tell me apart from my twin sister Ashley. (Yes, I'm a twin.) Most of my blog posts are about or include fashion. I have always loved clothes and all things fashion. My childhood memories are full of shopping trips to the mall with my mother. (Yes, I'm serious. That's how I spent my childhood.) Now I love putting outfits together, wearing pretty clothes, and shopping.
I don't blog about this a lot, but my number one interest other than fashion is gymnastics. (No, I'm not a gymnast and never have been. I've always wanted to do gymnastics, though.) That's how I spend a lot of my time professionally. I'm a freelance contributor for the popular gymnastics site FloGymnastics. Every four years I glue myself to the TV or my computer to watch artistic gymnastics live, but I also watch every major gymnastics competition every other year, as well. (You should, too. Gymnastics is not just on during the Olympics, people!) My winters and early springs are dedicated to watching NCAA gymnastics meets. I love the sport so much I own gymnastics leotards even though I've never been a gymnast. (There's my love of fashion and gymnastics coming together.)
As a journalist, it's no surprise I love to read and write. I have a never-ending to-read list and love to write and the power of words ― it's why I'm a blogger and not a YouTuber. (Although, my sister and I actually do have a YouTube channel now in an effort to get out of our comfort zones.) However, I do love using my camera. I just prefer to be behind it. I live to tell and share stories, whether it be with pen and paper, a screen and keyboard, or photos and video. See what I'm reading on Goodreads, what stories I've told on my portfolio, and what moments I've captured on my Instagram and my portfolio.
My other interests include dance, theater/Broadway, and action sports. So You Think You Can Dance is my favorite summer show and has helped me develop a love for the art form. I also wanted to do dance when I was younger but never did. I am in awe of the physical feats dancers can pull off in addition to the emotions and stories dancers demonstrate and tell. Theater/Broadway isn't something I've blogged much about here because it's a relatively new interest. I didn't watch a Broadway show until New Year's Eve 2016 and didn't watch a show on Broadway until summer 2017. Since then, I've seen seven different productions of Broadway shows and can pretty much recite and sing all of Newsies the Musical.
Action sports was actually an area I developed a great interest in before gymnastics and dance, thanks to Ryan Sheckler. I played my brother's Tony Hawk video games when I was a kid, but thanks to MTV's Life of Ryan (I know. It's a little embarrassing, but I'm not ashamed.), I was introduced to the world of competitive action sports, contests like Dew Tour and X Games. I would watch those competitions every summer. I don't watch them as much anymore, thanks to my bigger interest in the just-as-exciting-and-adrenaline-pumping sport of gymnastics, but I still enjoy supporting my favorite athletes and watching X Games and surf contests when I can.
While that's by no means the entire story of my life and everything I'm interested in, it's a good start. Hopefully this blog as a whole will tell you more about what I like and who I am. While I'm not a super popular blogger (or popular person in general) who can do this for a living, I enjoy sharing what I enjoy and am passionate about on here.
