Fashion Friday: Memorial Day Weekend 2016 Shopping Haul

Just like any other season, summer has its holidays where stores and manufacturers take advantage of the special occasion to have sales and great deals. Memorial Day Weekend's no different. And since this year, MDW was my first real weekend of summer, I was glad to spend it out and about at the mall and a few other stores. I also couldn't pass up some great online deals for the holiday weekend.

But in addition to shopping, I of course remembered what Memorial Day is all about and didn't let the shopping and sales overshadow the real reason for the long weekend. So when  you're out shopping MDW sales and see red, white, and blue everywhere, don't forget the real purpose for the holiday.

Anyway, I definitely prepared for summer with all the shopping I did that weekend, so take a look at what I got. If the items are available online, I've linked them in the caption.

TJ Maxx

I've noticed shorts similar to these with the overlapping petal design have been trending lately, and I understand why. They add a little twist to otherwise standard shorts. Plus, the overlapping petal design makes the shorts more flowy and great for summer!

The pair I got are actually originally from Hollister, so getting these at TJ Maxx was a great find. I love the colors and the pattern. I don't have any fun shorts like this yet, so I'm excited to wear them.

If you've ever looked at my haul or OOTD posts before, you probably know I love scalloped hems. What I really like about this dress is that it has a more mature feel to it despite it being for juniors. I also love the salmon.coral color. I don't have a dress in that color yet.

I think this is a great dress to wear to church, for an event that's a little more formal (like Father's Day lunch, which is when I'm going to wear it), or it could be used for business casual in the spring or summer!

I think you can never own too many athletic shorts (even if you don't wear them to workout most of the time.) I really like these because of the color (of course!) and the waistband. I think the waistband just looks really cool and makes the shorts different from what Nike's or Adidas' look like.

Vans

Hawaiian Floral Slip-On in white

These are my first pair of Vans! I got them at the outlet even though online it says they're only available online. They were on sale for $35, which was a steal considering they're originally $60 online. I don't have a lot of casual sneakers to wear over the summer, so I thought it would be a good idea to get some.

Nike

Nike Pro 3" Cool - Compression Women's Training Shorts (unavailable in pictured color)
If you ever played volleyball or were a gymnast or dancer, you know quality athletic compression shorts/spandex are not cheap, especially Nike's. So when I saw that the Nike outlet was selling these for only $15, I had to get them. I doubt I'll ever get Nike spandex that cheap ever again unless I went to the Nike employee store.

Aeropostale

I knew I needed a shirt to go with the Hollister printed shorts I got from TJ Maxx pictured earlier in this post, so when I saw this shirt at the Aero outlet, I thought it would go well with the shorts. Plus, almost the entire store was 60% off that day, so it was a great price!

High-Waisted Crochet Shorty Shorts (unavailable in pictured color)
I've been looking for olive green high-waisted shorts for a while now, and I haven't really found any until I went to Aero over MDW.  I haven't actually worn these yet, but when I tried them on, I really liked them. They fit well, and they actually covered my entire butt (if you wear high waisted shorts or are just a girl who shops in the juniors section, it's a hard feat to accomplish!). Plus, the lace crochet detail on the side is a cute little touch!

Pura Vida Bracelets

Silver Wave Ring
When Pura Vida announced they were going to sell wave rings, I immediately knew I wanted one even though I have never been in the ocean or a beach by the ocean for that matter. But I do like surfing and just the ocean waves in general. I originally was going to wait to buy them (I knew I wanted the silver and gold), but then they said they were selling quickly, so I figured I should buy them ASAP.

The rings are really cute and are a quick little way to add some beachy/summer vibes to an outfit. Plus, they come in three different sizes, so you could even order a size down if you wanted to use it as a midi ring. (Or you can just be like me and buy your actual ring size and still use it as a midi ring on other fingers.) Also, they don't turn my skin green!

Gold Wave Ring

Silver Bitty Heart Black bracelet and unknown free bracelet
Pura Vida has free shipping for orders over $25, so I decided to get a bracelet. They also sent me a free bracelet for buying a ring!

United

You know those sponsored posts you see on your Facebook news feed? That's where I discovered these shirts. I thought they were really cute, and I don't own too many patriotic shirts/pieces of clothing, so I figured, 'Why not?' Plus, the site was having a sale for MDW, and I didn't want to miss out.

'USA' Floral Pattern Tank Top in Carolina
I don't really own too much blue, especially when it comes to shirts, so I thought this would be a good addition to my summer wardrobe. This shirt is great for patriotic holidays or just a casual summer day.

Floral 'Merica Crown Tank Top
I just think this is really cute. I love the floral design around the Merica text. Fourth of July shirt anyone?

I was pleasantly surprised to see that they included a free sticker of the Merical Floral Crown design with my order! How cute!

What did you all do during Memorial Day Weekend this year? What are some of your favorite Memorial Day Weekend memories? Mine would have to be from 2014 when my family had a get-together at my house. It was just nice to be around my extended family members after being away at school.
