Fashion Friday: 2019 Emmys Purple Carpet Favorites

Awards season is starting to rev up, which means a lot of red carpet looks are coming our way. The 2019 Emmys did not disappoint with its regal purple carpet and outstanding ensembles. In fact, I had trouble narrowing my favorites down to under 20. But I did! And while I usually find only a few looks that stand out from the men, about a third of today's posts features some snazzy suits!

It's always nice when guys don't just wear a plain black suit or tuxedo to things, and this one is especially cool. The dark green color is rich, and the pattern of stars everywhere is subtle but provides great depth and adds a little fun to the serious piece. The velvet bow tie adds a luxurious vibe and nice contrast without diverting too much attention.

I've got to give props to this kid for wearing a sparkly sequin jacket, because at his age, it's not uncommon for kids to tease other kids, especially when they wear something that doesn't fit in with the typical idea of being a boy/girl. So be like Parker Bates and wear what you want regardless of what anyone else may think. This sequin jacket is awesome! And that little rose pin or whatever it is on the lapel is such a nice touch. He dresses better than a lot of people who are older than him.

What a fun, bold, sparkly dress! I love the colorful, glittery stripes going down the skirt and all over the bodice, plus the specks and fringe at the waist. It contrasts so well on the black and just creates a really nice silhouette and shape. The cutouts add some edge, and I just want to wear that dress and twirl around in it all day!

Oh, and then there's the back! The reverse backwards collar thing at the top is super cool and unlike anything I've ever seen before. I remember seeing the front and immediately being a fan of the dress. Then I discovered the back wasn't just plain or like the front and was literally in awe.

Yellow looks gorgeous on her! It's bold and bright but not overpowering where it hurts to look at because it's too bright. I'm a sucker for a sweetheart neckline, and I especially adore the pointed edges to it, which adds, well, edge. The ruffles, layers, and slit all flow and create great texture and depth.

You know I have to point it out: this dress has pockets!!! Like, how great is it that this beautiful, full, layered, beaded gown has pockets! That doesn't happen! Anyway, the silver beading all over the pale golden fabric is so intricate and simply stunning. The high neckline and long sleeves also add some sophistication that you don't normally see together, especially on a red (purple) carpet for an awards show that occurs in the early autumn in L.A.

While this dress in terms of design and looks is simple, it's gorgeous. The rhinestones on the navy tulle is reminiscent of a beautiful starry night, and the way it cascades and fades down is beautiful. The ruffles of the tulle provide depth and texture and make it feel light despite the dark shade.

The ombre of these ruffled petals is amazing! The warm pink/purple color combo is perfect for the season, and there is just so much texture with this dress. It just flows and creates such a beautiful look.

Justin Hartley & Chrishell Stause Hartley

Okay, first: Justin Hartley. I am loving the bright and bold blue! It looks wonderful, and the black detailing, from the lapel to the pockets is great. This is such a suave look. Next, Chrishell Stause Hartley. Those colors are gorgeous! They're so deep and rich, making it perfect for fall. The abstract floral design provides additional depth combined with the satiny finish to the fabric.

If you saw any Emmys red (purple) carpet roundups or highlights or anything, you know pink and red was the color combo of the night. So there were a lot of pink and red numbers. This pink and red dress, however, would have to be my favorite of the night. The color blocking and juxtaposition of pink and red is just so striking. This dress screams demands attention, and I love it. The bold color combination with the light, sheer, and airy fabric creates a fun contrast and mix of styles.

When I first saw this dress, I didn't think much of it since it's pretty plain and simple as far as gowns go. It's red, strapless, and has an A-line going for it. Okay. But then I saw the back!

I'm a sucker for bow back dresses! I love bows. And that bow is the best part of this dress. Sometimes it's nice for the back of the dress to be more fun and be the star.

I didn't see her dress until the actual ceremony was airing on TV, but I love it. It's quite simple, just being a solid color off-the-shoulder gown that hugs the body and has a bit of a deep V neck, but that's just it. It doesn't need anything else. In fact, it shouldn't have anything else going on. This dress is perfect the way it is. Sometimes simple is all you need.

RuPaul

I know I can count on RuPaul for a suit that isn't boring, and he certainly delivered at this year's Emmys. The black print on the pink base is so bold, and the print itself is quite unique. It's like leopard print meets floral? Anyway, it looks super chic, and the ascot adds some nice depth as well.

How can you see this dress and not immediately think of Cinderella? Like, this is basically Cinderella's gown come to life, and I am so here for it! The beautiful baby blue layers over what appear to be a nude base creates such an airy, elegant look, and the ruffles and layers create texture and depth. It's a modern yet classic take on Cinderella, and I just love it.

Surprisingly, I didn't choose many of the pink and red ensembles for my post as only two stood out for me. I love the layers and two different shades of pink going with the red on this one. It's geometric yet flowy, though I could definitely do without the pink ruffle tassel thing near the leg slit.

I've got two words for every guy who will ever wear a suit or tuxedo: VELVET. JACKET. Velvet jackets are the best. I have yet to see one that doesn't look amazing and super suave. They're just so luxurious and elegant and are just something else!

Zendaya

Everyone's said it, but it's true. Zendaya brought the Poison Ivy vibes, and I am here for this! The dress has a unique design that ebbs and flows in a way unlike any other because of the juxtaposition of the sheer corset-like bodice and ruffled satin bottom. It's modern, chic, and edgy, and she simply slays this look!
