Apparently last month was all about the "M's": March, music, magazines, and more. I discovered a lot of awesome new music last month that I've been listening to on repeat for nearly a whole month and got to read some great magazine features on a few of my favorite actors. In addition, there's typically some sort of new food or clothing item I try or wear for the first time, and that certainly applies here.
Sing to Me Instead EP - Ben Platt
Ben Platt's debut album was released just before the month ended, and I've been playing it nearly nonstop since. The first four songs he released were so beautiful and passionate that I knew I would enjoy the rest of them, and I do. From ballads about love and breakups to songs for and about his parents to a song about the wise words of an old man, there's a variety of content in the songs themselves while still telling an overall narrative. Plus, there isn't a single song I dislike.
"Pushing 20" is the first single from Sabrina Carpenter's upcoming album, Singular: Act II, and I am so here for it! These lyrics, "I'm pushing 20/ don't got time for others/ I'm pushing 20/ don't got time for others/ who ain't on the same wave/yeah, on the same page," speak to me so much and are just a great overall message from this song. If there are people in your life who aren't helping you grow or just aren't positive to your life, then they shouldn't be in your life. You have every right to prevent toxic people from being and staying in your life.
"Someone You Loved" and "Bruises" - Lewis Capaldi
No one really likes ads or commercials on TV or the radio or on streaming services on Spotify, but they exist, and sometimes there's an ad that we enjoy or actually quite helpful because we find it humorous or discover a product or event from it. And that's how I discovered Lewis Capaldi.
I was listening to Ben Platt's new EP on Spotify when an ad for a Lewis Capaldi playlist came on, and I instantly thought the songs were beautiful. So I actually did click the ad to listen to the playlist and found a few songs I immediately fell in love with. I love a lot of acoustic music like this, and his voice is just fantastic. "Someone You Loved" and "Bruises" were the songs I liked most on that playlist, and now I've added them to my own playlist.
"Taron Egerton on Starring in the New Elton John Biopic and Why He Doesn’t Want to Watch Bohemian Rhapsody" in Vogue April 2019
The initial reason I wanted to read this article featuring Egerton (besides the fact he's my favorite actor) was this beautiful, stunning photo in very Elton John-esque sunglasses. Can we just take a moment to appreciate how amazing this picture is? It's composed well, and the framing and choice of colors immediately draws your eyes to his, covered by the pink shades. Even if I didn't find Egerton attractive, I'd like this picture. I honestly want to find it in a copy of Vogue and hang it on my wall.
Anyway, the article actually isn't very long and mostly discusses his career and the upcoming film Rocketman, where he plays Sir Elton John, but my favorite part is definitely the end. It gets to more personal and kind of random things, like how he has a lot of clothes and recently getting back together with his girlfriend, and ends with this great quote from him: "What if something makes you sad? There’s validity in that." I just love that quote, because it really acknowledges the importance of not always being happy and that sadness is just as powerful as an emotion as joy.

"Gemma Chan Wants to End Whitewashing — In Hollywood and in History Books" Allure April 2019 cover story
Gemma Chan has recently become one of my favorite actresses and just people. I loved getting to read this cover story about her career and just about herself. She's so poised but opinionated and isn't afraid to speak her mind and talk about issues whether it's related to her career. While no story will probably ever fully capture a person, especially one you don't know personally, I feel this feature did an excellent job of capturing who Chan is, why she's a rising star, and why even though some people may think "she's just an actress," she's someone to watch for.
Cakeworthy '90s Princess Denim Jacket
I first posted about this jacket in my "What I Got for Christmas 2019" post, but I didn't really wear it until this month, and I love it (even though it unfortunately doesn't have pockets!). The embroidery on the back is just beautiful and has a vintage look that perfectly captures the '90s Disney princesses. It's super comfy is more fun that a normal denim jacket because of the back. But it isn't too much, so you really can wear it over anything for anything.
Cinnabon churro swirl
I don't remember when I found out Cinnabon had churro swirls, but I know I was excited to have one when I finally came across a Cinnabon. These churro swirls can actually be bought with a chocolate or caramel dipping sauce, but unfortunately those weren't available when I got one. However, the churro swirl was still warm and delicious without it. If you like churros, you'll like these.
