Fashion Friday: My Favorite Outfits from 2021

Since I actually went outside this year for something other than work, I finally had occasions and places to wear new outfits to pretty year-round, unlike last year. But there still wasn't anything super eventful or fun to dress up for, like weddings or big parties or even shows or concerts to go to. But it was nice to actually get to wear something other than sweatpants and hoodies. So here are my 10 favorite outfits I wore this year!

Much of the clothes and products worn in the outfits below are pretty old and likely out of stock, but I will still provide links below in the caption of each photo if available. Follow me on Instagram @amanda_carmela for more outfits year round!

What I like most about this outfit is probably the contrast, from the colors to the styles of the clothing. Obviously the pink top really stands out with the black pants and white shoes. But then there's the ruching and neckline of the top that elevates it a bit, especially compared to the cargo joggers and sneakers. The three necklaces add some sparkle while the messy bun balances the streetstyle vibes.

If you know me, you know I absolutely love the To All the Boys movies and books and refer to myself as the Filipino Lara Jean. So of course I had to snag this replica outfit of Lara Jean's New York ensemble from the third movie!

The dress and belt are both from H&M from the official To All the Boys collection. I completed the look with a heart necklace from BaubleBar and the exact pair of sneakers Lana Condor wears as LJ in the movie: the triple platform original Keds sneakers. I was stoked to find them at Marshalls (for less than $35!) so I could be even closer to being Lara Jean! And yes, I even did my best to copy the hairstyle she had while wearing this outfit.

I actually wore this outfit only once, but when I wore it and whenever I tried it on, it just made me so happy to be channeling my favorite character of all time.

Style Icons: Olivia Rodrigo

I first knew of Olivia when she made her Disney debut on Bizaarvark, but I wasn't interested in that show, so I first got to witness her talent as Nini in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. I remember when I found out she's Filipino, and I instantly became a fan. As much as I've enjoyed her performances as Nini, I've enjoyed her music even more. It wasn't until "drivers license" came out until I finally started listening to music on repeat that wasn't Taron Egerton or Aaron Tveit. So major props to her. Haha.

Now she's releasing her first album, Sour, today, and I can't wait to hear all of the songs. I've loved all of her singles so far. So in celebration of Sour, I'm featuring my fellow Filipina-American in this week's Fashion Friday as a style icon.

I normally go through someone's Instagram to find a bunch of outfits to feature, but Olivia recently restarted her feed, so I didn't have a lot to choose from. I did like a lot of stuff she's worn recently, though, which helped!

"All I Want" Music Video

I remember when I first watched this music video. My brain went "All I want is that dress." I obviously love the pink. Bright hot pinks are my favorite, and I love the tulle. It all stands out really well in what I assume is the Utah wilderness (for lack of a better word?) since High School Musical: The Musical: The Series films in Utah.

Anyway, the dress (or is it a two-piece situation?) is just stunning. The shades of pink contrast since they're different shades but still tie everything together and juxtapose well. The layers and tulle create some great texture and movement. The chunky black shoes really add some contrast to the frilly, girly outfit to add a little grunge to the look.

"deja vu" Music Video - Molly Goddard dress

This dress is just gorgeous. From the beautiful green color to the ruffles going around and down the skirt, it's definitely the iconic outfit of this music video. Like, taking a sledgehammer to a bunch of old TVs while wearing a bold and beautiful gown? Iconic!

"deja vu" Music Video - Chanel jacket/pool outfit

Pink being my favorite color, it's natural I gravitate toward outfits with pink. I love this Chanel jacket. It's classy and has a vintage feel. Pairing it with high waisted blue jeans and black loafers keeps it sophisticated and feeling vintage while maintaining a pretty casual look.

My Favorite Outfits of 2020

I think we can all agree 2020 was quite a year. No one was allowed to go out as much, which definitely impacted fashion. Sweatpants and loungewear certainly reigned supreme over suits and dresses. I certainly had fewer outfits to choose from when trying to pick my favorite outfits of the year.

I enjoyed working from home for a few months but ultimately did go back to working in person, which meant I still had to go out and wear "real" clothes. I didn't mind that so much since I do enjoy putting outfits together and dressing up. So while 2020 wasn't ideal, I am glad it didn't take away everything and still allowed me to enjoy fashion and outfits, casual or not.

As usual, I linked products in the captions. Some are exact while some are similar since they may be out of stock or discontinued.

January 11

I've never gotten the chance to wear a pretty gown before since I didn't go to prom or anything, so my great aunt and uncle's wedding provided me the chance to do so! I was hoping to find a more sparkly and pink gown for this occasion, but this dress was too good to pass up. I found it at a Camille la Vie store on sale, and it has pockets! I like the pink, black, and white floral print of the skirt and the mesh triangle cutouts at the side. Gowns and formal dresses aren't usually thought to be comfortable, but this one was.

Thankfully my great aunt and uncle's golden wedding anniversary was at the start of 2002 before everything shut down and big gatherings and celebrations were no longer safe, because it would have been such a bummer if my great aunt and uncle had to cancel their big celebration.

February 3

I bought this dress and top during Zara's semi-annual sale and thought they could pair well in the risky art of mixing patterns, and I like how it turned out! I felt very Gossip Girl-y meets '80s meets editorial fashion in this outfit.

February 11

This is my Lara Jean To All the Boys I've Loved Before copycat outfit to mimic the outfit she wears on the movie poster and in the final scene of the first movie. To All the Boys 2 came out on Netflix on this day, and I love TATB and Lara Jean. I was so excited about the movie I had to wear this Lara Jean outfit. It was so easy to put together and is something I could reasonably wear on an everyday basis.

Style Icons: Naomi Scott

Kevin Winter/Getty Images

If you know me, then you know I love Disney, especially Disney Princesses, and that Princess Jasmine is one of my favorites. Last year, the live action remake of Aladdin was released, and British actress Naomi Scott took on the role of Princess Jasmine. Aladdin's one of my favorite Disney movies, so of course I was hesitant to see how the live action version would turn out, but I loved it. Naomi Scott is an amazing Jasmine, and Jasmine as a character was really elevated in the 2019 film.

So in honor of the Aladdin remake's first birthday, in addition to Naomi Scott's 27th birthday earlier this week, I'm featuring her in my latest edition of style icons!

I love two piece dresses, and this one is unlike any I'd seen before. The half sleeve off-the-shoulder top is unique and sharp. The burgundy color is stunning, and the jeweled top contrasts with the solid sheen of the skirt really well.

Black never goes out of style and is such a versatile color. I love the different textures with this outfit, from the ruffled top to the beaded pants. The high-waisted pants create a flattering line and shape and pair with the cropped tank perfectly.

2020 Golden Globes Fashion Favorites

This year was the first year I watched the Golden Globes and was actually looking forward to it and really excited about it. Usually, I watch kind of just because and to see all of the outfits, but this year, Taron Egerton (aka my fave, but you should know that by now) was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy and won!!! While I love Taron, he did not make my fashion favorites from this year's Golden Globes. He still looked great, though! Here are the looks that did make it to my list of favorites:

Ana de Armas

Dear Ralph & Russo and Tiffany,
Can I please have this outfit in pink? Thank you.

Okay, but for real, I love this outfit. The navy sequin dress is amazing, and the color is so deep and rich. The sequins give it shine and dimension. I especially like the layered neckline because it adds more shape. The Tiffany jewelry is simple and elegant and goes with the gown perfectly. And the best part? The gown has pockets.

This pale pink Giambattista Valli gown is what ballerina princess dreams are made of! I obviously love the color and adore the ballerina vibes. There's a lot of tulle and layering but it doesn't look over the top, and the fluffy bodice creates a nice contrast in texture.

I love glitter, and this black glittery suit is simply awesome. Enough said.

My 19 Favorite Outfits from 2019

Happy New Year! I've been slacking on blog posts in the past few months, but I've found some time to do my annual yearly favorites posts. First up are my favorite outfits of 2019!

Picking my favorite outfits every year is never easy, but I feel like it was a little easier this year because for some reason, when I was going through all of my outfit pictures and my Instagram, it didn't feel like I had a lot to go through. Also, since I stopped doing so many outfit blog posts, I found doing this post more fun since a good portion of these outfits haven't been shared on here before.

I think this year may include the fewest amount of summer outfits and the most winter outfits since I started doing favorite outfits of the year posts, which is interesting since I usually like my summer outfits more. I guess that's what happens when you finally have jackets you really like and the weather isn't so terrible!

March 16, 2019

Wild Fable coat from Target | H&M floral top | Classic Navy Longchamp tote | Hot pink flats from Forever 21
My favorite thing about this outfit it just seems so perfect for early spring. The pink coat pops really well but also goes with the floral top and brings out the pinks there. My hot pink flats add another pop of color without feeling like it's too much or it doesn't fit. I also love how it feels girly and sophisticated, especially with the high ruffled neckline of the shirt and the little bow. Then the pink and florals just adds to that, of course.

March 23, 2019

Suede moto jacket from Tilly's | Topshop lace trim crop top from Nordstrom Rack | Floral Pixie pants from Old Navy | Ted Baker purse from Lord & Taylor | Blondo ankle boots from Nordstrom
This was an outfit I just came up with on a whim. It was one of those days where I wasn't sure of what to wear, so I just took a look in my closet and put something together. I ended up liking this outfit a lot more than I ever thought. The moto jacket plays off the floral design of the pants well to create a contrast in styles. The lace trim pink top adds some color and brings out some of the pink on the pants, too.

Outfit Overload: What I Wore This Summer

While summer is my favorite season and I am a fan of warm weather, I'm glad it's officially fall. And now it's officially a new season, I'm sharing my favorite outfits I wore this summer in my newly-renamed OOTD series called "Outfit Overload". It just makes more sense to me since I never post any of these OOTD blog posts the day I'm wearing them. Anyway, while it's not exactly sweater weather yet, I'm eager to start to transition these clothes and styles for fall.

May 8, 2019

Forever 21 denim jacket | Old Navy jogger pants | Reebok sneakers from DSW
The start of May was unseasonably cold. I definitely wasn't expecting to be wearing a jacket and pants but did enjoy the opportunity to wear these pants before it got too hot since I had recently bought them at the time.

May 9, 2019

A'GACI blazer | Striped jumpsuit from Express | Henri Bendel purse | Blondo ankle boots from Nordstrom
I went to the Lyric Opera of Chicago on this day to see its production of West Side Story for the first official time (I saw the final dress rehearsal), so I wanted to dress up a bit. It was still cool, so a jumpsuit was a better choice than a dress. I'd never had the opportunity to wear this bright pink blazer before, so I was glad it matched perfectly with this jumpsuit from Express.

May 15, 2019

Wallflower denim jacket from TJ Maxx | Wild Fable crop top and biker short set from Target | Floral sneakers from Vans
I've been loving the bike shorts trend and have wanted to try the crop top/bike shorts combo but had to wait for the right day, weather, and occasion. It's a very casual outfit, so wearing it to the movies seemed like a good fit. I love the color of this set but wish the material was at least a teeny bit thicker.

Styling My Poshmark Closet

Earlier this year, I started selling some of my clothes on Poshmark. I definitely own too many clothes, and it only makes sense to get rid of the ones that don't fit well anymore and/or the ones I don't wear anymore. I almost always keep my clothes in good condition, so selling them on Poshmark seemed like the best idea. Plus, Poshmark is a win-win, because I could clean out my closet and make some money.

Poshmark is an app for selling clothes and accessories, but you can also shop it online on a laptop or computer.

I have a lot of clothes for sale in my Poshmark closet but haven't sold as much as I would like. So to promote my Poshmark closet and my blog, I thought styling some of the clothes I'm selling would be  great way to get people to see how some of the clothes could be worn and possibly spark sales.

You can find me on Poshmark at @amanda_carmela, and every clothing item featured in this post is for sale on my Poshmark unless otherwise stated. You can find an individual link to each item above the respective photo.

Victoria's Secret PINK Tribal Baseball Tee + Bullhead Mom Shorts from Pac Sun

With the season of summer ending soon and fall coming, it's time to transition. This outfit is great for late summer and early fall. The dark pink and maroon hues are perfect for fall, and the combination of the longer sleeve top and shorts is ideal for those cooler late summer days.

Fashion Friday: How to Style Linen Overalls

August is already almost over (how?!), and it's time to start thinking about fall fashion and how to transition. I recently bought a pair of olive green linen overalls on clearance at TJ Maxx and think it's a great summer-to-fall transition piece.

I took a quick look at my closet, which currently has all of my summer clothes out in addition to a few sweaters for layering and unexpected cold days, and found four easy, but different ways to style linen overalls. After all, unless a clothing item is for a special occasion, you should maximize your outfit options to make your purchase worth it and to simply be sustainable in your shopping.

Trendy transitions: with an off-the-shoulder top and sandals

This outfit is perfect for a mild or cool late summer or early fall day where you won't want to be all covered up yet. The off-the-shoulder top and sandals add some casual summer vibes and give you some breathing room and let you soak up some sun if you want. They're also trendy. The hems of the pants can be rolled up more if desired depending on weather and preference. This is an easy late summer look I can't wait to throw on. It has a nice balance of comfy and casual, but the off-the-shoulder top elevates it a bit.

Casual and cool: with a T-shirt and sneakers

Any T-shirt could be substituted for my coral and white striped ringer tee, but this one goes with the overalls perfectly because of the olive trim on the neck and sleeves. The coral and white stripes and white sneakers add a vibrant pop of color and contrast.

Light and easy: with a long sleeve top and sneakers

For when it starts to get a bit cool, light and thin long sleeve tops and sweaters can be paired with these linen overalls. It's a very simple look but still looks and feels like you're put together and put thought into your outfit. I would probably wear these with some sneakers, but ankle boots or combat boots could spice things up a bit.

Comfy and cozy: with a sweater and sneakers

They're called overalls, but there's nothing stopping you from wearing them under tops as well. When it's a crisp fall day that's perfect for sweaters, you could throw on a big, comfy sweater like this one over the overalls instead of under. The straps may show but don't look bad. Like with the last outfit, there are a variety of footwear options. White sneakers like these Vans add a sharp contrast to the outfit and keep it very casual, but combat boots or flats could add a different vibe.

Dressing Room Diaries: First Fall Finds at Marshalls

I've been looking for fresh content and new ideas for this blog, and after a few trips to the mall and stores while I didn't have much spending money, I came up with the idea of what I'm calling "Dressing Room Diaries". Usually I don't try clothes on in stores unless I'm planning on buying what I'm trying on and really need to see how/if it fits.

But now I've realized that trying clothes on is a good way of trying on trends before buying and getting outfit ideas even if I don't currently have plans on buying anything. Lately I've been trying to think more about my purchases and not buy something simply because I like it and can. So trying clothes on more is a good way to see how I can wear one piece of clothing multiple ways and what it could go with that's currently in my closet.

So for this first dressing room diaries post, I'm featuring a few looks from a recent trip to Marshalls. Now that it's mid-August and school's starting back up, more fall clothes are hitting the shelves and racks, so I decided to try out a few new things.

(I know there's a pair of pants in the photo above, but they aren't actually featured in this post because they didn't fit and I couldn't find them in any other size.)

Floral and leopard print bodysuit and Rewash leopard stripe denim skirt

Leopard print is one of the rising trends for fall and even the summer, and this outfit features a bit of the print on the bodysuit and the skirt. A lot of leopard print clothing includes the animal print by having it everywhere, but these pieces give just a hint of it. So it's nice to see something different but still trendy.

Here's all of the bodysuit, which is actually super soft. It's definitely the softest top I've ever worn, so that's definitely a big plus to wearing it. The combination of florals and leopard print is definitely unique and something I've never seen before. It provides a nice juxtaposition of girly and edgy.

Fashion Friday: 2019 Tony Awards Fashion Favorites

Theo Wargo/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images
This year I watched the Tonys for the second time and saw so many wonderful looks on the red carpet, in the show, and at after parties. There were so many that I had to include 20, which I think is the most I've ever done for one of these posts. I also think I included more men than I ever have before, so basically the fashion at this year's Tonys was just off the charts. Broadway's biggest night truly delivered in fashion.

Sara Bareilles

Although this burgundy and black dress seems more appropriate for fall, I still love it. The colors are deep and rich, providing a nice contrast. The velvet diamond pattern cascading and growing from the top to bottom is awesome, and the pattern on the sheer skirt looks beautiful.

This suit just screams springtime, and I love it. The light purple base is gorgeous, and the florals all over are just so fun. It's a great look for the Tonys, especially this year since the red carpet backdrop wasn't full of roses all over, so nothing's clashing here.

Fashion Friday: My Favorite Looks from the 2019 Met Gala

Credit:Jennifer Graylock/PA Wire/PA Images
The first Monday of May is always a big night for fashion as it's when the Metroplitan Museum of Art, better known as the Met, holds the Costume Institute Gala, better known as the Met Gala or the Met Ball. It's a big fundraiser for the fashion/costume portion of the Met, so a lot of big Hollywood and even international names are in attendance dressed to the nines.

Every year has a theme, and this year's was camp, which can be hard to understand. In simple terms, camp has to do with extravagance, excess, and being over the top. In modern slang terms, camp is about being extra. So a lot of attendees wore and did a lot with their looks. It was hard for me to narrow down my favorite looks, and I'm still not even sure if these would be my top 15, but they're definitely 15 of my favorites.

A lot of people wore pink this year, and of course I loved it, so you'll be seeing a lot of that.

Rachel Brosnahan

This isn't a super extravagant look, but I do love the colors, all the ruffles, and the floral print. The orange florals on the magenta base pop but are somehow still subtle. All of the ruffles create a nice flow and texture without it looking like something a Founding Father would wear, and the sheer material creates more depth.

Naomi Campbell

So I'm honestly not sure if this outfit is pink or purple because in some pictures, it looks pink, and in others, it looks purple. Regardless, I'm a fan of this look. The feather boa-like cape thing looks so fun and glamorous and really complements the entire outfit. The lace tights also add another level of glam to this outfit, and I just love how unapologetically (for the lack of a better word) glamorous it is.

Gemma Chan

Credit: Evan Agostini/Invision/AP
Ugh. I just love Gemma Chan (which you may know because I featured her as one of my style icons). She looked like an absolute queen in her Met Gala debut. She just looks so regal! This headpiece is amazingly beautiful and so intricate. Her gown is just extra sparkly and looks like it's made of diamonds, which is just gorgeous. And I think this look just proves there's no such thing as too much sparkle, because she's literally wearing crystals from head to toe.

Fashion Friday: OOTD: Time to Transition

When the seasons start to change, it can be tough to figure out how to dress appropriately for the transitioning weather. Sometimes it's too warm for one jacket but not cold enough for another and you need to find a nice in-between jacket. Sometimes it's quite cold in the morning and too warm for a jacket by the afternoon. Or sometimes the weather just goes out of whack and you're back in the middle of last season but already put all of last season's clothes away.

So for this outfit of the day feature ― I realize calling these posts OOTD isn't exactly right as these are never posted the day I wear them but it's too late for me to try to change it now ― I wanted to share some recent outfits I've worn that I think are good for transitioning from winter to spring, whether it's the right amount of layers or just the right colors and patterns for the time.

February 22, 2019

Wild Fable jacket from Target | H&M sweater | Plaid pants from TJ Maxx | Steve Madden sneakers from Marshalls | Kate Spade purse
If you've been on my blog this year, there's a good chance you've seen this jacket before. It's a great jacket for transitioning from winter to spring, so I wore it in quite a few outfits on this post. The bright pink color is great for spring but isn't insanely bright. It just pops and adds some nice, fresh color. It's also not too thick and not too thin, making it great for transitioning.

I threw it on over a lightweight hot pink sweater. This allowed me to have some layers but of differing thicknesses so I wouldn't be too hot or cold. Pairing it with some plaid pants added some texture without drawing too much attention away from the pink.

Fashion Friday: Outfits from Charlotte Russe's Closing Sale Haul

Last month, when I heard juniors retailer Charlotte Russe was closing all of its stores, I honestly wasn't surprised as similar stores like Wet Seal had done the same. I never shopped there a lot but did on occasion, so I was a little disappointed. But I was honestly more excited and looking forward to the liquidation sales because I love a good sale! And with it finally starting to feel like spring, it was a great time to shop for some warm weather clothing or get a great deal on fall/winter clothes.

There are quite a few Charlotte Russe stores in the areas I usually shop at, but I went to only two within a week or so, closer to the start of the liquidation sales. I bought the most stuff at the first store I went to, probably because it was either the first or second day of the closing sales, so that's when the most stuff and the best items were available. The second store I went to several days ago still had a lot of stuff but not as much good stuff, so I didn't buy as much. None of the sales were like ridiculously good, like 70% off the original price (except maybe the clearance rack items), but they everything was at least 30% off, which is still quite a bit of money to save.

The first time I got seven items (five clothing items and two undergarment accessories) for $78, and the second time I bought two pairs of shoes and two clothing items for $63. Considering $80 at Charlotte Russe would typically get you maybe three or four clothing items or two pairs of shoes, I think I got some pretty good deals.

Pink criss-cross dress and Nude pointed stud flats

This dress was one of the first things I saw when I first went to Charlotte Russe for their liquidation sale. The bright pink color easily caught my eye, and we all know pink is my favorite. The color is perfect for summer. I really like the fit of the dress with the flared skirt, and the criss cross design at the front adds a bit of flair to the solid color dress.

Another thing I like about this dress is that it can be easily dressed up or down. I can throw on a denim jacket and some flat sandals for a more casual look, or I can wear it with some wedges of heels for a fancier look. Pairing it with these pointed studded flats creates a look that would be in the middle.

Ever since I saw Valentino make shoes with studs on the straps like these, I wanted a pair of similar shoes, knowing full well that I could not afford the actual Valentino shoes. So when I saw these dupes of the flats, I immediately tried them on. The nude color makes it so they're versatile and can go with pretty much any color combination.

These shoes have two adjustable straps: one at the ankle and one on the foot to make them fit you best. Almost every pair of flats I own are uncomfortable and give me blisters, and while I haven't actually worn these yet, they were pretty comfortable when I tried them on in the store with somewhat swollen feet and when I took all the photos for this post. I think I wore these shoes the longest during my photoshoot, and my feet didn't hurt, so that's good!

Tropical floral lace-up back dress

The best thing about this dress is that it was on one of the clearance racks, so it was an addition 30% off the already-cheap clearance price! This dress just makes me want to go on a warm, tropical vacation ― or a vacation somewhere warm at the least! The tropical floral print is just so fun and summery and pops really well on the white. The dress itself is made of a very light and airy fabric that's perfect for summer and makes it super comfy.

I feel like I hardly ever see V-neck dresses, so I really like the neckline of this one. The flutter sleeves are really cute and actually have an opening, so it sometimes looks like there's a cutout in the sleeve or there's a straight-up cut in the sleeve. Either way, it's a unique little detail that would make this a great dress to wear along the water or on the beach where the breeze would blow through the sleeves and give you some refreshing air.

My favorite detail, though, would have to be the back. I love the lace-up design on the back that just more fun and flair to the dress. It's another reason this would be great to wear on a beach or somewhere along the water. Plus, the lace-up back allows you to tighten or loosen the top of the dress to your desire, which is neat, because it allows you to be the most comfortable you can be.

I paired this dress with some '90s-looking heeled sandals because I wanted to add some more color, but this would look great with almost any kind of sandal: flip-flops, flat strappy sandals, wedges, or some block heels. I absolutely love the Sugarfix by BaubleBar earrings I accessorized with, because they add some more fun to the look without overdoing it, especially looking at the outfit from the front since it looks more plain. Anyone up for a trip to Florida or California?

Red/pink/white/black striped cropped hoodie

As much as I like to dress up and wear skirts and dresses, there are of course days where I'm feeling a more casual, laid-back look. And this cropped hoodie is perfect for that. This was another one of my clearance rack finds, and I just liked everything about it: the cropped design, the colors, the stripes, the fit.

I personally love high-waisted jeans and shorts, so I love to pair them with crop tops. However, I actually have only one cropped hoodie and think they're just so cute and comfy. This one definitely adheres to my cute and comfy opinion. The red, white, pink, and black is simple and still allows me to wear pink like I always do. The stripes are just classic and timeless, so they'll never go out of style. Sometimes cropped tops can be too cropped, but this one is just right.

I wanted to keep it all simple and casual with this hoodie and paired it with some distressed black jeans so the hoodie would be the focal point of the outfit. I wore black slip-on sneakers here, but a lot of different sneakers would work well with this. I also have white low-top Converse, light pink Keds, and rose gold Reebok sneakers, all of which would look good with this hoodie and add some contrast to the black jeans but also bring out the colors in the hoodie. I'm currently saving up for some white slip-on Vans, and those would be perfect with this hoodie, too.

Yellow striped off-the-shoulder top and Yellow floral high-low skirt

It's pretty rare that I buy a shirt that has absolutely no pink on it unless it's a solid, neutral-colored shirt, but I couldn't pass up this shirt when I saw it on the same rack as this floral skirt. They basically put the outfit together for me right then and there!

I've seen a lot of these fitted off-the-shoulder tops in the past year or so but just never bought one. But with this one, since I immediately saw what I would wear it with, I didn't hesitate. The yellow color fits the spring and summer seasons so well (and could even be worn for fall if done correctly). It's a departure from my usual color palette, so it'll add some variety to my wardrobe.

If I'm being honest, I pretty much bought this floral skirt only to go with the yellow top, but I know I have other shirts in my closet already that I can pair it with. What I like about the florals on this skirt is how they look like a painting. Also, they're pretty big compared to any other piece of clothing I have that is floral print. I love high-low skirts like this where it's almost like a wrap skirt in the front with the overlapping curved front.

Mixing patterns is something you can totally do if you know how to do it without looking like you're dressed for a high school spirit week on tacky day. But it actually isn't that hard, and this outfit here is a great, easy example of how to do it. The striped top provides a more subtle pattern while the floral skirt is bolder. Both the top and the skirt have a main color in common, yellow, which ties the two together without the mixing looking tacky.

Don't these two pieces make a cute outfit?! I love the variety in designs and lengths where the off-the-shoulder top shows more skin while the high-low skirt has more coverage, balancing nicely. Off-the-shoulder tops go great with chokers, because they let them be seen more as opposed to other tops. I wore a gold choker and a rose gold chain necklace here, which are simple but add some shine.

I chose wedges to go with this outfit to add some height and dress it up a bit. The high-low skirt lets me show off my shoes without detracting too much attention from the clothes themselves. But this could also be worn with flat sandals for a more casual look.

Light olive/pink/white striped blazer and Rose gold glitter pointed heels

No matter where I'm shopping, I always try to take a look at the clearance and sale racks, because you never know what's there. I never want to miss out on a good deal, and this blazer is one of those. As I begin to become a fully-fledged adult with a job, I need certain clothes, like blazers. I'm not a big fan of boring black blazers, and as someone who works in media and communications, I can get away with colorful and patterned blazers, like this one.

Olive green is actually one of my favorite colors to wear because it's a great color for spring and fall and goes with pink, especially light pink, well. So I'm a fan of the color combo of this blazer, and the pink and white contrast well with the olive and give it a fresh spring vibe. It's not a super stiff or structure blazer and actually is really easy to move in, so it's comfortable to wear. The little ruched detailing on the side at the bottom of the sleeves are super cute, too, and shorten the sleeves, which I like since I'm often working with my hands, doing a lot of writing and typing, and sleeves can sometimes get in the way.

I hardly use blazers for everyday casual wear, but even this blazer can be dressed up or down depending on what I wear with it, mainly the shoes. Whenever I wear blazers, I typically wear them with a matching top and pants. Since this blazer is striped, I'd probably stick with plain shirts or maybe a lace top and black business casual-appropriate leggings or skinny leg pants. But I could also be more formal and wear a black or pink skirt. I'm not sure I have any business-casual dresses that I could wear with this, but that would work as well.

To dress up the outfit with pants, I chose to wear these Charlotte Russe heels to add some shine and formality. While glitter isn't something I'd wear for any business purposes, I feel these are subtle enough to work, especially since the rose gold color isn't bold. Plus, I work in a more creative industry where that isn't as big of an issue.

I don't usually shop for heels unless I'm seeking ones to go with a certain dress I bought for an occasion, but since these were on sale and I love pink and rose gold and glitter, I thought these could be a good, justifiable investment. One of my cousins is getting married later this year, so I'm definitely going to try to wear these even though I don't have a dress yet. Anyway, even though these are literally covered in glitter, I can make them work for more casual but still fancier than normal occasions like Easter. I actually bought a Ted Baker dress at Marshalls not too long after buying these, and it would go with these quite well since it has gold accents.

Purple/white/pink/light blue striped turtleneck sweater

The last thing I bought from Charlotte Russe was this comfy striped sweater. Although I'm pretty over wearing sweaters since I've done it for the past four months or so, I loved the colors on this one and thought this would be a good sweater to wear on a cooler spring day. I love how the pink really stands out among the other colors, which all pair well together while still contrasting. I typically like my sweaters to be a little big, so I definitely liked the fit of this as it wore like a slightly oversized sweater. The sweater itself is soft and it isn't too warm, so I was able to wear it last Sunday on a rainy, cooler spring day.

While I could pair this sweater with black jeans or leggings, which are usually my go-to, I wanted to brighten and lighten it up and chose to wear light wash distressed jeans instead, which is more of a spring outfit choice. I'm also kind of over wearing boots, but when it's raining, there are only so many good footwear options. Besides, these sparkly Kate Spade boots stayed in the color combo of the sweater while adding some shine. This was a great, comfy cool, rainy spring day outfit.
